Restore onto a new PC

The venue PC no longer starts, its disk is dead, or it has been stolen. The venue goes back into service on a new PC, with the same installation command, the venue’s USB stick and the recovery phrase. The venue keeps its identity: no link code, no new confirmation from the owner.

  • A new (or wiped) PC, running Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, connected to the venue network, with Internet (see The venue PC).
  • The venue’s USB stick, with its backups (LuckyTouch folder) — preferably the one with the most recent copy.
  • The recovery phrase, written on the paper kept in the safe.

Plug the USB stick into the new PC, open a terminal, and type:

📍 Type on: New venue PC (Ubuntu)

Fenêtre de terminal
wget -nv -O- https://<adresse de votre plateforme>/installer | sudo bash -s -- --restaurer usb

Without a USB stick, with a backup file downloaded earlier from the back office, replace usb with the file’s path (for example --restaurer /media/clé/salle-….ltbak).

  1. Choose the backup. The command reads the plugged-in sticks without writing anything to them and lists the backups found, the most recent first: venue, date in venue time, size, version. Enter takes the most recent one, a number takes another, n stops (nothing is installed).
  2. Type the recovery phrase on the keyboard (nothing is shown while you type). A wrong phrase is refused straight away, and nothing is installed.
  3. The installation continues on its own: PC checks, version, start-up, then the restore of the venue from the backup (database, photos, players, archives), step by step.
  4. The phrase is set again on this PC: the same phrase keeps protecting the backups; the USB stick used for the restore is adopted and the new PC’s first backup is requested.

At the end, the command sums up: “Salle restaurée” (Venue restored), the warning about the old PC, the phrase set again, the stick adopted, and what is left to do in the back office.

  • The same venue: same name, same code, same accounts, same money as at the time of the backup. People sign in with their previous credentials (no initial administrator).
  • Only one PC counts: the new PC takes the old one’s place with the platform; the old one can no longer send anything.
  • Nothing is paid twice: manual payments, withdrawals, debts and transfers from before the restore are blocked until an administrator has re-checked them; no order from before is sent to the devices again.
What the command says What to do
🔴 a cause (no backup on the sticks, wrong phrase, port in use, damaged backup, another venue…) — nothing is installed Fix it (plug in the right stick, get the paper again), run it again.
“… cette commande est pour un PC NEUF — sur un PC en service, restaurer au BO …” (… this command is for a NEW PC — on a PC in service, restore in the back office …) This PC has already been used: restore in the back office (Back up and restore).
“Restauration sur ce PC NEUF ÉCHOUÉE : … la salle reste FERMÉE et verrouillée” (Restore on this NEW PC FAILED: … the venue stays CLOSED and locked) Fix the cause shown, run it again: the command reloads the database and continues.
“salle RESTAURÉE et ouverte, mais la liaison avec la plateforme reste RETENUE” (venue RESTORED and open, but the link with the platform is still ON HOLD) Check the PC’s Internet access, run it again: only the link is redone.
“salle déjà restaurée sur ce PC neuf … rien à faire” (venue already restored on this new PC … nothing to do) Nothing.
  1. Sign in to the venue back office (the address is shown at the end of the command).
  2. Paramètres (Settings) → Sauvegardes (Backups) → Restaurer (Restore), À faire après la restauration (To do after the restore) card: follow each line — re-check the payments from before the restore, recount the registers, take an inventory of the safe, read the meters. See Backups and restore.
  3. If the end of the command said “À faire au BO” (To do in the back office):
    • SET the recovery phrase AGAIN: Paramètres (Settings) → Sauvegardes (Backups), Phrase de restauration (Recovery phrase) card;
    • adopt a USB stick: Paramètres (Settings) → Sauvegardes (Backups) → Clés USB (USB sticks) → Adopter cette clé… (Adopt this stick…) — as long as no stick is adopted, an alert reminds you that the backups are only on this PC.
  4. Check that the devices and registers have found the server again (see Diagnostics).
