Install a register

The register application is installed once per device, by the technician. After that, it updates on its own: the venue server offers it each new version (see Register updates).

The administrator reaches this screen through the Postes de caisse (Register devices) tab of Paramètres (Settings) → Mises à jour (Updates); operations staff through the Paramètres (Settings) → Postes de caisse (Register devices) entry. The screen only opens in the venue back office.

  • Open the back office using the server’s address on the venue network, not an address local to the venue PC: the installation links are built from this address. If that is not the case, a Adresse locale à ce poste (Address local to this computer) banner says so.
  • The device (tablet or register PC) must be on the same network as the server.
  • A register PC is a PC separate from the venue PC. For Linux: Ubuntu desktop 22.04 or 24.04, 64-bit.

The “Installer la caisse sur un nouveau poste” (Install the register on a new device) card

Section titled “The “Installer la caisse sur un nouveau poste” (Install the register on a new device) card”

It has one line per device type: Tablette Android (Android tablet), PC de caisse Windows (Windows register PC), PC de caisse Linux (Ubuntu) (Linux register PC (Ubuntu)). Each line gives the link (or the command), Copier le lien (Copy the link), and the Empreinte du fichier (File fingerprint) (with Copier l’entière (Copy it in full)).

  1. On the tablet, open the link from the Tablette Android (Android tablet) line in the browser (send it to yourself by message, or copy it out by hand).
  2. Allow installation from this browser when Android asks, then install.
  3. Open the register: on the sign-in screen, tap Trouver le serveur de la salle (Find the venue server). “Serveur trouvé : …” (Server found: …) fills in the Serveur de la salle (Venue server) field.
  4. The first update will also ask you to allow installation from the register (“Install unknown apps”): accept, once per tablet.

The first installation comes from the venue server over the local network: the screen says so (“La première installation n’est pas authentifiée (confiance au premier contact)” — The first installation is not authenticated (trust on first contact)). To make sure the file has not been replaced, compute its fingerprint on the device — the screen gives the command under “Sur le poste, l’empreinte du fichier téléchargé” (On the device, the fingerprint of the downloaded file) (Windows: Get-FileHash in PowerShell; Linux: sha256sum) — and compare it with the one the publisher gives you by another channel. After that, each update is checked by the register itself: a modified file is refused.

Each device that has connected appears in the Postes (Devices) table: its name, its platform, its version, its status, any last failure, the last person signed in. If an update fails on a device, an alert names it (“La caisse … n’a pas pu passer en … : elle reste en …” — The register … could not move to … : it stays on …); the device keeps running its version.

  • On a register PC (Windows, Linux), if a new version does not start, the old one is put back automatically. An administrator can also go back to the previous version from the register’s sign-in screen (Revenir à la version précédente (Go back to the previous version)).
  • An Android tablet never goes back: a faulty version is fixed by the next version.
