When the link drops

The register works with the venue server, on the venue network. It does not need Internet: an Internet outage changes nothing for the register (see How it fits together). This page is about the link between the register and the venue server.

  • The status bar, at the bottom of the screen, says Temps réel (Real time) when all is well, Reconnexion… (Reconnecting…) when the live link is cut. On a phone, it is the coloured dot above the time, at the top right.
  • A Hors ligne (Offline) banner: “Reconnexion au serveur de la salle… Les valeurs affichées peuvent être périmées.” (Reconnecting to the venue server… The values shown may be out of date.)
  • The machine tiles show périmé (out of date) instead of the credit, and the drawer “peut-être périmé — reconnexion en cours” (may be out of date — reconnecting).

Status bar at the bottom of the screen (“Reconnexion…” on the left, next to the register and its opening time).

Section titled “The live link is cut, the server still answers”

This is the most common case (weak Wi-Fi, reconnection in progress). The screens no longer update by themselves, but actions go through: each operation is sent to the server, which still decides. The verdict of a transfer in progress is read again automatically.

Do not trust figures marked “périmé” (out of date): before paying a player based on a credit shown, wait until the status bar is back to Temps réel, or open the transfer’s proof.

When the venue server cannot be reached, nothing can be done: “Le serveur de la salle ne répond pas. Aucune opération n’est possible tant que la liaison n’est pas rétablie.” (The venue server is not answering. No operation is possible until the link is restored.) Check the device’s Wi-Fi or cable, then tap Réessayer (Try again). If all devices are affected, call the technician (see Diagnostics).

If the link cuts during a money action (credit, withdrawal, payment, safe movement, closing…), the register does not know whether it arrived. It does not guess, and it does not resend anything by itself:

  1. It shows “Issue inconnue — vérification en cours” (Unknown outcome — checking): “l’ordre est peut-être passé. La caisse le relit auprès du serveur par sa référence — rien n’est renvoyé d’office. Ne le ressaisissez pas.” (the order may have gone through. The register reads it again from the server by its reference — nothing is resent automatically. Do not enter it again.)
  2. If the server received it, the register shows the real result, as usual.
  3. If it did not: “Ordre non parvenu au serveur” (Order did not reach the server). The Renvoyer (même référence) (Resend (same reference)) button sends it again. Even if it had in fact arrived in the meantime, the server returns the same order, never a second one.

Everything resumes by itself, with no restart: the register reads again the session, the manual payments, the intakes, the debts, the transfers, the ledger and the alerts; the Hors ligne banner disappears and the status bar goes back to Temps réel. An uncertain transfer stays uncertain until operations resolves it: reconnecting does not make it disappear.

  • Floor attendant: their photos and the credits read wait on the phone and are sent by themselves when the network is back (see Floor attendant).
  • Server update: the register stays on screen, greyed out, with the Serveur (Server) box — “Rien n’est perdu : la caisse reprend là où elle en était, rien n’est rejoué.” (Nothing is lost: the register picks up where it was, nothing is replayed.) It tries again by itself (see Register updates).
  • A device offline: it is the machine that is cut off, not the register. Its tile shows “hors ligne” (offline); an order that cannot reach it says so in its proof (“Non transmis”, Not transmitted). See Device troubleshooting.
  • A remote approval given during an Internet outage arrives when the venue reconnects; the register then shows the time of the decision and the time it arrived (“autorisée par Responsable C à 14:00:05 — reçue à 18:00:12”, approved by Responsable C at 14:00:05 — received at 18:00:12).
