Gaming day and shifts
A venue does not close at midnight. So Lucky Touch files every money movement in a gaming day, which runs from the opening time until the next day’s opening, and in a shift, a named slice of that day.
The gaming day
Section titled “The gaming day”- It starts at the venue’s opening time and ends at the next opening, in the venue’s time.
- What happens after closing and before reopening belongs to the day that has just ended. Example: the venue is open from 08:00:00 to 02:00:00; a manual payment at 03:12:40 counts in the day that started the day before at 08:00:00.
- The opening and closing times, and the venue’s time zone, are set in the back office.
The day number: “JJ n°” (GD no.)
Section titled “The day number: “JJ n°” (GD no.)”Each day on which at least one register (main register or tablet) was opened gets a number, in order: “JJ n° 214” (JJ stands for journée de jeu, gaming day).
- The number is given when the first register of the day opens, and then never changes.
- A day with no register at all has no number, and does not leave a gap: the next day takes the next number.
- You find it on the X report and the session receipt, in the register history (“Journée JJ n° 214 du 25/09”, Day JJ n° 214 of 25/09) and at the top of period reports (“Journée de jeu n° 214 du 18/10/2026”, Gaming day n° 214 of 18/10/2026).
Shifts
Section titled “Shifts”A shift is a named slice of the day — for example “Jour” (Day) from the opening, then “Soir” (Evening) from 16:00:00. A venue that has set nothing has a single shift, “Journée” (Day), which covers the whole day.
- From 1 to 8 shifts, with different names. The first always starts at the opening; each other one starts at a time between the opening and the closing. A shift ends when the next one starts; the last one ends at the day changeover.
- Only an administrator changes the split; operations can read it. Every change is written to the audit log.
Each movement counts in the shift of its time
Section titled “Each movement counts in the shift of its time”A movement belongs to the shift that contains its time, not to the shift of the register that made it. A cashier who opens at 15:00:00 and closes at 22:00:00 counts in exactly both shifts: what she did before 16:00:00 in “Jour”, after in “Soir”.
| For… | Look at |
|---|---|
| responsibility for the money: float, expected amount, variance, closing, receipt | the register session |
| analysis: how much the evening shift made, who held the register | the shift (back office → Rapports → Shifts, Reports → Shifts) |
A shift is not closed: it is read. What gets closed is the register (see X report and closing).
A frozen split
Section titled “A frozen split”A day that has already started keeps its split. If you change the shifts during the day, the new split applies from the next day; the screen says so.
At the register, the Historique (History) can be filtered on Shift en cours (Current shift), Journée (Day) or Tout (All). See Drawer ledger, history, transfers.
