Working on the tablet

The tablet follows the person around the venue: it credits machines and makes withdrawals in front of the customer. It has no float: it works on the ceiling granted by its main register, and gives its cash back to that register through a hand-in. It opens nothing and closes nothing.

A main register does not see this screen: it sees its tablets on the Tablettes (Tablets) screen (see Link a tablet, its ceiling).

Before working: be linked and have a ceiling

Section titled “Before working: be linked and have a ceiling”

At sign-in, the tablet opens its service sheet by itself, at zero. As long as no register has linked it, the banner says “En attente de rattachement — demandez à la caisse principale de lier cette tablette.” (Waiting to be linked — ask the main register to link this tablet.) and no sale is possible. As soon as the main register has linked it and granted it a ceiling, the screen switches by itself, without you touching anything.

  • Ceiling at zero: your credits are refused; ask your main register for a ceiling.
  • Ceiling frozen: your main register froze your ceiling, and only it can unfreeze it. Every credit is refused with “Plafond gelé par l’exploitation : aucun crédit n’est possible depuis cette tablette.” (Ceiling frozen by operations: no credit is possible from this tablet. Default wording, adjustable in Register wording.)
  • Main register closed: nobody can receive your cash any more; get linked by an open register.

Five venue settings (Paramètres → Réglages, Settings → Settings, “caisse” (register) group, see Settings) decide which operations are offered. A permission that is off shows no button.

Setting Default Operation offered
Tablette : vendre du crédit (Tablet: sell credit) yes Créditer (Credit) (and split a payment over several machines)
Tablette : retirer d’une machine, payé au guichet (Tablet: withdraw from a machine, paid at the counter) yes Retirer — payé au guichet (Withdraw — paid at the counter)
Tablette : retirer d’une machine (payer un joueur) (Tablet: withdraw from a machine (pay a player)) no Retirer (Withdraw), paid from your collected cash
Tablette : régler un paiement manuel (Tablet: settle a manual payment) no Paiement manuel (Manual payment)
Tablette : sortie d’espèces au comptoir (Tablet: counter cash payout) no Sortie comptoir (Counter payout)

Demander la remise (Request hand-in) is not a permission: it is always there. When a payment permission is on, you pay with the cash you have collected (you have no drawer): if it is not enough, the payment is refused.

The action is the same as on the main register (see Credit a machine). Each credit proven by the machine uses up your ceiling; the cash received is added to your Espèces collectées (Cash collected) (with mobile money, nothing goes into your cash).

This is what the tablet is meant for: you withdraw the credit from the machine in front of the customer, but you do not pay them. The customer goes to be paid at the main register with a code.

  1. Choose the Retirer — payé au guichet (Withdraw — paid at the counter) operation (or Retirer when the row is narrow), then the machine.
  2. Check the amount (“La machine a 125 000 Ar · le client sera payé au guichet, sur présentation du code”, The machine has 125,000 Ar · the customer will be paid at the counter, on showing the code), then tap Retirer 125 000 Ar — payé au guichet (Withdraw 125,000 Ar — paid at the counter).
  3. Wait for the device’s verdict. At the Retrait — payé au guichet (Withdrawal — paid at the counter) verdict, the tablet shows Dû au client (Owed to the customer) and the debt code, very large.
  4. Show or read out this code to the customer: they show it at the main register, which pays it (see Pay a debt with its code).

Nothing comes out of your cash. If the machine paid back only part of it (Retrait partiel — payé au guichet, Partial withdrawal — paid at the counter), the debt carries only what was proven. A refused withdrawal owes the customer nothing; an uncertain withdrawal owes them nothing until operations has decided.

  1. Tap Demander la remise (Request hand-in). There is nothing to enter: the hand-in takes everything you can hand in.
  2. At the Vérifier (Check) step, tap Demander la remise de 265 000 Ar (Request the hand-in of 265,000 Ar). The verdict says “Remise demandée” (Hand-in requested) — “En attente de confirmation par la caisse principale” (Waiting for confirmation by the main register).
  3. Take the banknotes to the main register. It counts them and confirms: your collected cash goes down by the same amount.
  • Confirmed with a variance: the tablet shows the counted amount, the declared amount and the cashier’s note (“260 000 Ar comptés pour 265 000 Ar déclarés — manque de 5 000 Ar”, 260,000 Ar counted for 265,000 Ar declared — short by 5,000 Ar). The variance stays on your account, “à régulariser par l’exploitation” (to be adjusted by operations): you can keep working, but your sheet will not close before that.
  • Refused: the reason is shown, the money is still yours, and you can request again.
  • Greyed out: “Aucune espèce collectée à remettre.” (No collected cash to hand in.), or “Un retrait en cours tient toutes vos espèces : attendez son verdict avant de demander la remise.” (A withdrawal in progress is holding all your cash: wait for its verdict before requesting the hand-in.) Only one hand-in can wait at a time.

As long as you hold cash, Se déconnecter (Sign out) is greyed out, and the banner says why (“Rattachée à la caisse de Caissière A — des espèces restent à remettre : déconnexion impossible”, Linked to Caissière A’s register — cash still to hand in: cannot sign out). The only way: request the hand-in and have it confirmed.

When you no longer hold anything (no cash, no ceiling still usable, no transfer in progress, no pending hand-in, no open hand-in variance), signing out ends your service: “Déconnecté — fin de service de la tablette.” (Signed out — end of the tablet’s service.) The tablet then leaves the list of registers. Your next sign-in opens a new sheet, at zero.

The Historique (History) button opens Mon historique (My history): everything you did, on all your sheets, with the tabs Transferts (Transfers), Payés au guichet (Paid at the counter), Créances (Debts), Encaissements (Intakes), Remises (Hand-ins) and Corrections. When the main register pays a debt created by your tablet, the line changes to “payée” (paid) live and a Créance payée (Debt paid) notification tells you who, where, when and in which mode. Details: Drawer ledger, history, transfers.
